About the Club

In 1849, on the shoreline of Hong Kong Harbour where the City Hall stands today, the original Victoria Recreation Clubhouse was established. Having been in operation in Canton since 1832, the VRC is distinguished as the oldest sporting and recreation club in the territory.

Today, one membership opens two extraordinary clubhouses: Deep Water Bay on Island Road, and Emerald Bay overlooking Port Shelter in Sai Kung—home to paddling, dragon boat, outrigger, and open-water programmes for every level.

Two clubhouses, one membership

The Victoria Recreation Club is affiliated with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association, and is a life member of The Royal Life Saving Society (England).

From dragon boat and outrigger canoe to open-water swimming and paddle sports, members train and compete with a culture of civility, sustainability, and respect for the ocean.
